Fagunia Foundation is our effort to create meaningful, long-term impact for local communities and the environment in the mountains of Uttarakhand.
Since starting Fagunia, we have always felt a deep responsibility towards the place we now call home. What began with small, direct actions—reducing our environmental footprint, working with local communities, and offering support during the COVID-19 pandemic—gradually evolved into a more structured approach.
Through conversations, observations, and time spent with people around us, we began to better understand the challenges faced by rural mountain communities. This led to the creation of Fagunia Foundation, through which we now work on focused, need-based initiatives.

Vision
Mission
To work with local communities and like-minded partners to:
- Strengthen education and learning outcomes
- Improve access to quality public health
- Support sustainable livelihoods
- Provide need-based infrastructure support
- Build climate resilience
Focus Areas
Our work is centred around education, health, environment, and livelihoods—areas that we believe are deeply interconnected in shaping long-term well-being.

Current Initiatives
Centre for Learning
In May 2025, we started a Centre for Learning in Bajoon village, Nainital district.
What began with two students in Classes 9–12 has grown into a daily learning space for over 70 children from 7 nearby villages.
We currently run multiple batches with local tutors teaching science, mathematics, and physics—helping students build a strong foundation for higher education, especially in STEM fields.
We have also introduced an activity-based learning program for younger children (Classes 1–8), creating a space that encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
As we grow, our focus is on strengthening the quality of learning, mentoring our tutors, and building a sustainable model that can support more children over time.
We are deeply grateful to Justice Pradeep Nandrajog (Retd.) and Advocate Rameeza Hakeem for their early support and encouragement.
Digital Lab & School Infrastructure Support
In 2024, with the support of Linde, we helped set up a digital learning facility at the Government Primary and Middle School in Faguniakhet village.
The school previously had no functional computer access. By providing desktop systems and supporting equipment, we aim to improve digital literacy and enable teachers to use multimedia tools in their classrooms.
With additional support from Taaran Trust, we also:
- Installed ceiling fans in classrooms and the Anganwadi centre
- Added books to the school library across different age groups and languages
Going forward, we plan to expand digital learning tools and replicate this model in other schools in the region.
Co-curricular Learning Programs
We are currently running a pilot co-curricular program in collaboration with experienced theatre-based learning practitioners.
These sessions go beyond textbooks—helping children develop communication skills, confidence, creativity, and emotional awareness.
Research shows that such programs significantly improve overall learning outcomes, and we hope to expand this initiative to more schools based on learnings from the pilot.
Covid Public Health Support
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, we partnered with the actor Ashwath Bhatt and local organisations to support community health centres across Uttarakhand.
Through this effort, essential medical equipment was distributed to grassroots organisations such as Chirag, Aarohi, and Agrani India Foundation to strengthen their healthcare response.
This support helped bridge critical gaps in rural health infrastructure during the pandemic and improved preparedness for future challenges.
We are now exploring new initiatives to improve access to primary healthcare and diagnostic services in remote mountain regions.
