Jakhya is wild mustard or dog mustard that predominantly grows in the wild in the lower reaches of the Garhwal Himalayas in the state of Uttarakhand. A unique mountain ingredient, it is deeply intertwined with Pahadi cuisine and used for tempering many pahadi dishes. We have been sourcing wild mustard for many years for our personal use from Himalayan farms of the Garhwal region. Now, we are happy to introduce this unique condiment to a wider audience.
Jakhya adds a satisfying crunch to many dishes like the classic pahadi aloo jakhya. Or use it instead of normal mustard to add that special crunch and a nice nutty flavor to your favorite dishes.
